5th SAM.SSA Project Meeting in Peterborough, England, United Kingdom

The SAM.SSA consortium at work

On 04-05 November, 2014, The Phase Change Material Ltd. (PPL) hosted the fifth project meeting in Peterborough, England in the historic hotel Bull Hotel.

The nine project partners presented promising ways of treating pure sugar alcohol or sugar alcohol blends to achieve crystallization and the corresponding measurements, which they conducted and tested over the last few months. Several teams had been working on encapsulating and crystallization the most promising blends, while others tested and investigated ways of functionalizing carbon surfaces to make them super hydrophobic to MASA. Finally, it was agreed that development of an early stage prototype is going to be realized within the project time. Basic concepts for the prototype were discussed and finally fixed for sample transfer to the industry partner PPL who will build these prototypes.

In Addition the final meeting for the SAM.SSA project was fixed to the 10th of March 2015 with an attached on site workshop demonstration on 11th/12th of March 2015 at the partner side of CiC energigune in Minano Spain. After the two and a half years of the project the consortium is optimistic about elaborating answers to the problems of thermal energy storage. The project will end in 5 month with a demonstration workshop.
